Back to School

Well it's been two weeks since i started uni in halifax now. I am enjoying the classes, today i switched from Art in Literature, which i found not too exciting, to Photography Seminar: 1960 to present. I think that i will enjoy this class a lot more, it's on tomorrow morning. So my timetable is as follows: Wednesday 1pm - 5:30pm Creative Electronics, Thursday 1pm - 5pm Printed Matter and Friday 9am - 12pm Photography seminar.

The creative electronics class is cool, very much out of my comfort zone! I learn about electronics and build circuits and stuff, it's pretty neat! I will be able to use the knowledge i gain from this class in interactive exhibitions, for example, i could set up a motion sensor to trigger a certain coloured light or to trigger a projection of a photograph to appear on the wall.

I love my printed matter class. My prof. is about 75 and shakes a little and is a really nice and friendly guy. We learnt how to perfect bind a book (our first project due today was to make an edition of two perfect bound books) we also learnt to coil bind, although i dont really like the look of this one.

Tomorrow i'll have my first photo sem. class as i just changed it today. I am looking forward to it, although not to waking up at 8am arh!

The photo department seems pretty good. I had to have a tutorial with the scanner and printing systems. haha, sca kiddies you'll laugh at the treatment of the 35 nikon scanner they have here. It's the same as the one we have and we tried some slides on it and it was disgustingly dusty so the tech. got a brush and a puffer and opened it and was not exactly friendly to it. It was funny in comparison to how precious cam is about our scanners. i haven't checked out the colour dark rooms yet although the black and white ones have a pretty nice set up.

Okay i better go to bed as i dont have an alarm clock yet so i am relying on my body clock to wake me up at 8am. ouch.

ps: there was a tiny bit of snow this morning on the way to school although it's been sunny here for about a week with the temp. at about 5 degrees! The weather station says tonight is -8. crazy weather all over the world it seems. Wouter flew back to the Netherlands last night so i am missing him, the house is a lot more quiet. His flight was cancelled from heathrow to amsterdam because of the weather but he got home okay.
