Today i met a cat, his name was Alastair B. He only had three legs and was not very friendly. I said to Alastair B, 'you're not a very friendly cat' but he just meoowed.
I finnished my Chai Tea and the chapter of my book and went inside into the warm again. The water in my boiler sounds like a didgereedoo.

Movin' In
Yesterday i moved into my new room. It has a mattress, a boiler and a window. My stuf looks nice spread over the floorboards.
Yetserday i went thrift shopping (that's what they call vinnies shopping here). I found that it is way more stylish to go to vinnies than it is to go to a thrift store. I found that they didn't really have the real retro aspects as we do in australia, it's mainly 90's stuff. I managed to pick up an sx-70 polaroid for cheap, in a nice leather case and was considering a typewriter, because i am practically dying without one!! It's good to feel a little more settled.
At midday each day they fire a canon from the top of a little hill in the middle of the city here, i haven't heard it yet, i think i must be too oblivious, people say how loud it is and how it always scares them. I'm starting to think it's a conspiracy.
Some other history about Halifax, the bottlo closes at 10pm, Sobeys (big supermarket) is open 24 hours, you cant get into clubs after 12:30pm, Kitchen Partys are very trendy.
okay, i'm going to find me some sx-70 film and get some photos processed, jeuj! (as they say in dutch)

Carli finds a home
I found a house!
I move in next Tuesday to a very nice house on Black St. It has floorboards throughout and wireless internet. Heating, electricity, water etc. are all included for a reasonable $100 a week.
It is really pretty and i'll take some photos and post them up. I am so happy to have a place of my own again, a space without naked strangers...
It is not far from my uni, about 5 minutes on the bus or a 30 minute walk. The man is very friendly.
Yay!

First Impressions
Yesterday i flew into Halifax. The scenery from the airport to the hostel was amazing, the airport is about 20 miles out of Halifax so lots of pine trees which all look dead. They make up a hazy grey horizon. The Halifax Backpackers is quite funky, a cafe and bar at the front, and upstairs a few dorms and private rooms. Very cosy and homey and the people are mega friendly.
Last night i went along to a 'Kitchen Party', a growing trend of house parties in Halifax where a band plays music in the kitchen of a friends place. One of the guys that works at the hostel invited a bunch of us to go. Living it up hostel style we managed 'comfortable' inebriation without the aid of this thing called money. Headed through the 'rough' end of town and to the house.
The house was really funky, the bathroom was filled with plants and looked like a forest. I met a guy there who went to NSCAD and we chatted about all sorts of stuff. He offered me a ride home in his massive white big fat old car, it was soo cool! I think from the 1960's and a massive bonnet. He drove me downtown and we had coffee at the NSCAD coffee hang out, open 24 hours ofcourse and showed me a little bit of the NSCAD buildings.
Late this morning i started my search for a home. The guy who works here (who invited me to the kitchen party) gave me a bike! the brakes dont exactly work and the chain is a bit rusted but i rode it to look at a house today. I have to admit i have not ridden a bike for some time so i was a little rusty but as the saying goes.
This afternoon i'm just chilling out, i'll make a few calls about some more places and maybe go for a ride on my new bike!
